Terms of Service

Last updated: March 2026

Welcome to CampusGig ("CampusGig," "we," "our," or "us"). These Terms of Use ("Terms," "Agreement") are a legally binding contract between you ("User," "you," or "your") and CampusGig. By creating an account, accessing, or using the CampusGig website or services (collectively, the "Platform"), you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you must discontinue use of the Platform immediately.

1. Definitions

  • "Platform" refers to the CampusGig website and related services.
  • "User" refers to any individual who creates an account, including both Buyers and Sellers.
  • "Seller" (or "Provider") means a user who offers to perform services through the Platform. Sellers are not employees, contractors, or agents of CampusGig.
  • "Buyer" (or "Requester") means a user who purchases or requests services.

2. Eligibility

  • You must be at least 18 years old (or the legal age of majority in your jurisdiction).
  • You must be legally capable of entering into binding contracts.
  • To sell services on CampusGig, you must register with a valid institutional (.edu) email address.
  • Buyers may register with any valid email address.
  • Each user is solely responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable laws, including immigration and employment regulations.

We reserve the right to verify enrollment status and suspend accounts that do not meet these requirements.

3. Nature of CampusGig's Role

CampusGig is a technology platform that facilitates connections between student sellers and buyers. We are not a party to the agreements between buyers and sellers. CampusGig does not employ, manage, or supervise sellers. We do not guarantee the quality, safety, legality, or completion of any service listed on the Platform. CampusGig is not responsible for verifying users' work eligibility, employment status, or immigration status.

4. Fees & Payments

CampusGig currently charges no platform fee. This may change in the future — we will notify users before introducing any fees. There are no fees for creating an account, posting listings, or browsing. All prices displayed on listings represent the total amount the buyer pays. Listings may be priced at $0 (free) — free listings bypass payment processing entirely and complete immediately with no charge to either party. Listings may also specify a price range; in that case, the final transaction amount is determined by a quote agreed upon between the buyer and seller through the Platform's messaging system before checkout.

All paid transactions are processed through Stripe. Stripe processing fees are covered by the platform, not the seller or buyer. By using CampusGig, you agree to Stripe's Terms of Service. CampusGig facilitates payment processing but is not a bank or financial institution.

5. Payment Holds

When a buyer initiates a paid purchase, the payment is authorized and held (not captured). This hold protects both parties: the seller knows the buyer has committed funds, and the buyer's payment is only captured when they confirm the work is complete.

If the seller submits a delivery and the buyer does not release or dispute payment within the auto-release window, payment is automatically released to the seller. The auto-release window is 3 days after delivery is submitted, with a maximum of 6 days from the original transaction. If the seller does not submit a delivery before the auto-release window expires (5 days from the last update, or 6 days from creation), the payment authorization is voided and the buyer is not charged. If the automatic release fails or is not triggered, uncaptured holds expire after 7 days per Stripe's policy.

Free ($0) listings complete immediately with no payment hold.

Users assume full responsibility for their payment arrangements and any disputes that arise from them.

6. Order Delivery & Revisions

After a paid transaction is created, the seller may submit a delivery through the Platform with an optional message and link. The buyer is notified and may either release payment (completing the order) or request a revision.

Buyers may request up to 3 revisions per order. Each revision request must include a note describing what needs to change. After 3 revisions, the buyer may still release payment or open a dispute. Requesting excessive or bad-faith revisions may be considered misuse of the Platform.

Auto-release timing adjusts based on delivery status: 3 days after delivery is submitted, with a maximum of 6 days from the original transaction. If no delivery has been submitted, the payment is automatically refunded to the buyer after 5 days (or the 6-day hard cap). A revision request pauses the delivery-based auto-release countdown (except the hard cap), and because a delivery was previously submitted, the hard cap still releases to the seller.

7. Email Communications

By creating an account, you consent to receive transactional emails related to your activity on the Platform, including payment updates, new messages, delivery notifications, and dispute communications. You may also receive periodic digest emails summarizing your activity, occasional marketing emails, and category alert emails when new help-wanted listings are posted in categories you subscribe to.

You can manage your email preferences from the Settings page to opt out of non-essential emails (messages, transactions, digests, marketing, and category alerts). Certain emails — including dispute notifications, welcome emails, auto-release notifications, and auto-refund notifications — are always sent for safety and legal reasons and cannot be disabled.

8. User Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Use the Platform for unlawful purposes or activities that violate school, local, state, or federal laws
  • Engage in academic dishonesty (writing papers, taking exams, or completing graded assignments for others)
  • Harass, defraud, or harm other users
  • Post false or misleading information
  • Offer services you are not qualified or authorized to perform
  • Misrepresent your identity or institutional affiliation
  • Attempt to circumvent the Platform to avoid fees
  • Share accounts or use another person's .edu credentials
  • Use the Platform to advertise unrelated commercial or non-student businesses

9. Seller Responsibilities

Sellers act as independent individuals, not employees or agents of CampusGig. Sellers are solely responsible for:

  • Complying with all local, state, federal tax, and legal requirements related to services performed
  • Ensuring they have any necessary permits, skills, or authorizations to perform the requested service
  • Delivering services as described in their listings
  • Reporting income earned through the Platform to the appropriate tax authorities

International students are responsible for ensuring their participation complies with immigration and visa restrictions. CampusGig assumes no responsibility for verifying or enforcing these requirements.

10. Referral Program

Each user receives a unique referral code and may share referral links with others. When someone visits a referral link, a 30-day tracking cookie is set to attribute signups to the referring user. There are currently no monetary rewards for referrals. CampusGig reserves the right to modify, suspend, or terminate the referral program at any time.

11. Disputes & Refunds

We encourage buyers and sellers to resolve disputes directly through the Platform's messaging system. If you cannot reach a resolution, buyers may open a formal dispute on any held payment through the Platform. Dispute reasons include: service not delivered, not as described, quality issue, or other.

When a dispute is opened, all payment actions are frozen — neither party can release, cancel, or modify the payment while it is under review. A CampusGig administrator will review the dispute and resolve it by either releasing the payment to the seller or issuing a refund to the buyer. Both parties are notified by email when a dispute is opened and when it is resolved.

You may also contact us at support@campusgig.app for assistance. CampusGig may, at its discretion, assist with user reports or mediate disputes but is under no obligation to do so.

Disputes can only be opened while payment is held (before release). Releasing payment constitutes your confirmation that the work is satisfactory. Once payment has been released and the transaction is marked as completed, in-app disputes are no longer available. If an issue arises after release, you may contact us at support@campusgig.app for case-by-case assistance, but CampusGig is not obligated to issue refunds on completed transactions.

12. Content Moderation

CampusGig reserves the right to moderate user-generated content to maintain the quality and safety of the Platform. Moderation actions may include, but are not limited to:

  • Removing or clearing profile information (bio, skills, social links, company details) that violates these Terms or community standards
  • Removing reviews that are fraudulent, abusive, or violate these Terms
  • Hiding completed projects from a seller's public profile

Users whose content is moderated may not receive advance notice. If you believe a moderation action was taken in error, contact us at support@campusgig.app.

13. Account Suspension & Termination

CampusGig reserves the right to suspend or terminate any account for:

  • Violations of these Terms
  • Fraudulent or harmful activity
  • Misuse of the Platform
  • Conduct that damages CampusGig's reputation or violates community standards

Terminated users forfeit access to the Platform and may be permanently banned. Any held funds at the time of suspension will be handled in accordance with Stripe's policies.

14. Disclaimer of Warranties

CampusGig provides the Platform "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We make no warranties about the accuracy, reliability, or suitability of the Platform or the Users who participate in it. CampusGig does not guarantee that users will find services, receive payment, or earn income.

15. Limitation of Liability

CampusGig is not liable for:

  • Any disputes, injuries, losses, or damages arising from services or interactions between users
  • Unfulfilled services or non-payment
  • Misconduct, negligence, or misrepresentation by users
  • Any issues related to payment processing through Stripe

CampusGig's total liability is limited to the platform fees collected on the specific transaction in question.

16. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless CampusGig, its affiliates, employees, and partners from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses resulting from: your use of the Platform, your violation of these Terms, or any service provided or received through the Platform.

17. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, USA. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Platform shall be resolved through binding arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association (AAA). You waive your right to a jury trial or participation in a class action lawsuit.

18. Modifications

We may revise these Terms at any time. Updates become effective immediately upon posting. Continued use of the Platform constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. We will notify users of material changes via email.
