How CampusGig Works
Whether you're a student selling your skills or someone looking to hire, here's everything you need to know.
For Students
Sell your skills or hire fellow students
Sign up with your .edu email
Create an account using your university email address. This verifies you as a real college student and builds trust with buyers.
Set up Stripe payments (optional)
Optionally connect Stripe to accept payments through CampusGig. You can also arrange payment directly with clients.
Post a gig
Create a listing describing your service — what you offer, your experience, deliverables, and pricing. You can set a fixed price or a price range to negotiate with each buyer. Add images to showcase your work.
Chat with interested buyers
When someone is interested, they'll message you. Discuss project details, timeline, and scope. For price range listings, send a quote with your proposed price — the buyer can accept or decline before purchasing.
Deliver the work and get paid
Once hired, complete the work. When the buyer is satisfied, they release the payment and it goes directly to your bank account (no platform fee while CampusGig is new).
Students can also hire! Post a request for help or browse other students' offers. When you find someone, hire and pay them right from the conversation.
Never miss an opportunity. Subscribe to category alerts in Settings to get notified by email whenever someone posts a new help-wanted listing in categories you're interested in.
For Clients (Buyers)
Hire talented students for your projects
Sign up with any email
Create a free account. You don't need a .edu email to hire students — anyone can browse and buy.
Browse and find talent
Search listings by category, price, and type. Read descriptions and check seller ratings and reviews.
Message the seller
We recommend messaging the student before purchasing to discuss your specific needs and make sure it's a good fit.
Hire & pay securely
When ready, click 'Hire & Pay' (or 'Hire' for free listings). For price range listings, the seller will send you a quote first — accept it, then pay the quoted amount. Your payment is held securely until you're satisfied. Free listings complete immediately with no charge.
Release payment when satisfied
Review the delivered work. When you're happy, release the payment from your dashboard. You can also leave a review for the seller.
You can also post requests! Clients can post request listings describing what they need help with. Students will see your request and reach out if they can help.
How Payments Work
Secure payment protection for both sides
Buyer pays
PENDINGPayment is authorized on the buyer's card but not charged to the seller yet.
Funds held securely
HELDThe payment is held securely by Stripe. The seller is notified and begins work.
Buyer releases payment
COMPLETEDOnce satisfied, the buyer releases payment from their dashboard. The seller receives the full amount — no platform fee.
Auto-release: After the seller submits a delivery, payment auto-releases to the seller if the buyer doesn't act within 3 days. If no delivery is submitted, the payment is automatically refunded to the buyer instead. A countdown is always visible in the order status.
Disputes: If something goes wrong, the buyer can open a dispute. All payment actions are frozen while our team reviews and resolves it fairly.
Quotes & price ranges: Listings with a price range require a quote before checkout. The seller sends a quote in the message thread, the buyer accepts, and then pays the agreed amount. The rest of the payment flow works the same.
Free listings: Listings priced at $0 skip the payment flow entirely and complete immediately — no payment hold.
Order Tracking
How delivery and revisions work
Seller delivers work
DELIVEREDWhen the work is done, the seller submits a delivery with an optional message and link. The buyer is notified by email.
Buyer reviews & accepts
COMPLETEDThe buyer reviews the delivery. If satisfied, they release the payment — completing the order.
Or requests a revision
REVISIONIf something needs adjusting, the buyer can request a revision with a note. Up to 3 revisions per order.
Auto-release after delivery: If the buyer doesn't respond within 3 days of a delivery submission, payment is automatically released to the seller. If the seller never delivers, the payment is automatically refunded to the buyer instead.
Revision limits: Buyers can request up to 3 revisions. After that, they can still release payment or open a dispute if the work isn't satisfactory.
